According to ABC News, Northern Territory hip-hop artist Yung Milla has won The Voice Australia 2026 after audience votes were counted in the grand final. The Marranunggu artist, 23, whose family name is Levi Nichaloff, was supported by loved ones across the Top End, including hundreds who attended a Palmerston watch party.

Yung Milla first appeared on the program in August, auditioning with a song written by his brother and fellow artist J-Milla. He went on to reach the final with three other contestants. The victory brings an all-inclusive recording and development package as well as a $100,000 cash prize.

“If it wasn’t for my people I wouldn’t have won it, it was all their votes,” Yung Milla told the ABC. “This is bigger than me. I haven’t won, everybody where I’m from has won, all my mob has won.”

During the competition, Yung Milla spoke about a difficult upbringing in a household affected by domestic violence, alcohol and drugs. He credited his mother, Kylie Miller, with guiding him and his family. His and his brother’s stage names use her maiden name, Miller.

The rapper also highlighted his Aboriginal culture during the show. In the semifinal, he performed a rendition of Men At Work’s Down Under, adding his own lyrics and opening with the yidaki, or didgeridoo. He said mentor Melanie C had advised him to remember why he was doing it and never forget where he was from.

Yung Milla, who has worked supporting young people at Darwin’s Aunties Place and in other mentoring roles, said he plans to release EPs. He also intends to use part of his prize money to establish a Darwin music studio for local children, saying he wants to “give the kids a voice”.
