I’m thrilled to announce that the new Canterbury Leisure & Aquatic Centre is complete and will open on 7 November – markingthe beginning of a new era.

This $61 million facility is more than just a new aquatic centre. It is a world-class health, fitness and recreation destination that will serve generations of residents across Canterbury-Bankstown.

For many people, the former Canterbury pool was a place filled with cherished memories. Families spent summer days together, children learned to swim, school carnivals created lifelong friendships and dedicated swimmers completed countless laps.

While we honour that history, we are incredibly proud to deliver a facility that meets the needs of our growing and diverse community for decades to come.

The new Centre features a heated 50-metre outdoor Olympic-sized pool, a heated 25-metre indoor pool, an indoor warm-water therapy and program pool, a zero-depth children’s water play area, accessible changerooms and amenities, a modern gym, fitness studios, sauna, onsite cafe and much more.

I would like to thank our residents, user groups, staff, contractors and stakeholders for their patience and support throughout the journey. The result is a facility our entire community can be proud of.

I am delighted to officially welcome the community to this outstanding new facility at our grand opening event on Saturday 7 November. I hope I see you there!
