According to ABC News, Lani Pallister won the 1.2-kilometre Bluff to Bar ocean swim at Alexandra Headland on Saturday, following her successful Australian short course championships in Sydney.
The 24-year-old claimed her third consecutive victory in the point-to-point Sunshine Coast event after a 4am wake-up call and travel from Sydney. Pallister led the field from start to finish.
On Friday night, Pallister secured her fourth gold medal of the national short course championships by winning the 800m freestyle. She raced in every freestyle event from 100m to 1,500m, taking gold in the 200m, 400m, 800m and 1,500m and finishing second in the 100m.
Her results sealed a place in the 24-strong Australian Dolphins squad for the world championships in Beijing from December 1-6. The selection is Pallister’s ninth for Australia.
Pallister will next attend an altitude training camp in Flagstaff, USA, before returning to full training for the world championships.
