According to The Guardian, England led Croatia 2-0 after 25 minutes of their Nations League match at Stadion HNK Rijeka on Saturday. Harry Kane opened the scoring in the eighth minute before Jude Bellingham added a second in the 21st.

Kane struck after England intercepted a loose pass from Joško Gvardiol. Bellingham released the England captain into the box, where Kane took a touch and lifted his shot across goalkeeper Dominik Livaković and into the top-left corner.

England continued to create chances. Anthony Gordon had an effort blocked by Livaković after running clear down the left, while Bukayo Saka later headed narrowly over following a Gordon cross. Bellingham’s goal came after Gordon controlled Saka’s long cross, turned and cut the ball back for the midfielder, who toe-poked it into the bottom-right corner.

Croatia’s first notable opening came when Luka Modrić sent Ivan Perišić down the left, but Jordan Pickford raced to the edge of his area to smother the ball. Croatia were captained by Modrić, who was set to make his 203rd appearance for the national team, while Kane was winning his 124th England cap.
