According to ABC News, the Sydney Roosters completed an unbeaten 2026 NRLW campaign by defeating the Brisbane Broncos in the grand final, gaining revenge for their loss to Brisbane in the previous season’s decider.

The match began with unusual errors from State of Origin wingers. Roosters winger Jayme Fressard failed to gather the opening kick-off and sent the ball into touch, before Brisbane’s Julia Robinson dropped the ball in her own half. Sydney capitalised when Brydie Parker collected a cross-field kick from five-eighth Jocelyn Kelleher and scored in the corner.

Halfback Tarryn Aiken then drove the Roosters’ first-half surge with three decisive contributions in seven minutes. After missing last year’s grand final with an ACL injury, Aiken scored after her grubber rebounded from Brisbane winger Kerri Johnson. She later set up captain Isabelle Kelly from an attacking scrum, then produced a kick that Brisbane’s Deleni Paitai fumbled before Fressard scored.

Broncos veteran Ali Brigginshaw finished her NRLW career in the grand final after being placed on report for a low challenge on Aiken. Referee Belinda Sharpe did not send Brigginshaw to the sin bin. Brisbane captain Tamika Upton also made a notable try-saving tackle on Jessica Sergis when the Broncos were 26-0 behind early in the second half.

The Roosters won all 13 matches in 2026, becoming the first men’s or women’s top-grade rugby league team to go through a season without a loss since the 1959 St George Dragons, who had 17 wins and a draw. Sydney were the first team to win every match in a season since South Sydney in 1925.
