According to Allafrica, the United Nations World Food Programme strongly condemned an aerial attack on two contracted trucks carrying WFP food commodities in South Kordofan during the early hours of Saturday, 3 October 2026. One driver was killed in the air strike.

The trucks were travelling from Dilling to Kadugli and were clearly marked as humanitarian vehicles, WFP said. It extended condolences to the killed driver’s family, friends and colleagues.

WFP said it was still gathering details on the circumstances of the incident, including the extent of any damage to the food cargo. The agency called for a prompt and impartial investigation and said those responsible for any violations should be held accountable.

The attack occurred one day after a WFP truck struck an explosive device in Dilling, South Kordofan, after delivering lifesaving food assistance. WFP said the incidents highlight Sudan’s increasingly challenging security environment and the risks faced by aid workers delivering assistance.

The agency urged all parties involved in hostilities to meet their obligations under international humanitarian law, protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, and allow humanitarian personnel and cargo to move safely and without obstruction. WFP said it remains committed to delivering lifesaving support to millions of women, men and children across Sudan.
