Arabic version: توجيه اتهامات لسام وود بجرائم عنف أسري
According to The Guardian, former Bachelor star and fitness influencer Sam Wood has been charged in Queensland with domestic violence offences. Queensland police said a 46-year-old Victorian man was arrested after officers attended a Noosa address at about 9pm on Saturday following reports of alleged domestic violence.
Police said the man was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm in a domestic violence setting and strangulation in a domestic setting. The alleged victim or victims were not identified. Wood appeared by video link in Maroochydore magistrates court on Monday and was remanded in custody.
Wood’s lawyer, Mathew Cuskelly, told AAP that Wood would apply for bail at a hearing on Thursday and that the charges would be defended. A statement posted on Wood’s Instagram account and that of his wife, Snezana Wood, said the family was working through a difficult time and co-operating with authorities.
Mark Watkin, acting chief executive of 28 Group, the parent company of 28 by Sam Wood, said Wood had stepped down from his role indefinitely. Watkin said the company had zero tolerance for domestic violence and that Wood was on indefinite leave while the matter was under investigation and before the court. Foxes Den, a ready-meal provider and partner of 28 by Sam Wood, said it was ending its association with Wood effective immediately.
