Arabic version: باودرفينغر تؤكد جولة لمّ شمل أسترالية في 2027
According to The Guardian, Powderfinger has confirmed it will reunite for a national Australian tour beginning in September 2027. The announcement marks the first time the 18-times Aria-winning rock band will play live since its Sunsets Farewell Tour ended in Brisbane in 2010.
In a video posted to the band’s Instagram account, Bernard Fanning, John “JC” Collins, Ian Haug, Darren Middleton and Jon Coghill announced the plans. “We always said that if we were going to get back together to do some shows that you guys would be the first to know,” Fanning said. Middleton added: “We’re going to build something pretty special just for you guys. We’ll see you from the stage.”
Speculation had grown after digital billboards appeared in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne with messages including “ALBUMS: 7” and “ARIAS: 18”. An Instagram account called the Return of the Electric Horsemen also appeared before being deleted. Its name referenced the final track on Powderfinger’s 1996 album Double Allergic, while another message drew on the opening lyrics of the 2000 single My Happiness.
Powderfinger formed in 1989 and had five consecutive No 1 albums on the Aria charts during its 21-year run before members announced their split in April 2010. Their farewell tour concluded on 13 November 2010, a date also used in the marketing campaign. The group briefly reunited in 2020 for the One Night Lonely livestream, which raised more than $500,000 for Beyond Blue and Support Act. No tour locations or further performance details have been announced.
