Viral chicken sensation Wingstop is set to bring the flavour, the beats and the basketball to Parramatta Lanes this month, with a huge line-up of local business events that will transform the city during the four-night festival.
Wingstop WRLD will take over the forecourt of their flagship Parramatta Square store to deliver a block party-style experience featuring a basketball court, live hip hop performances, DJs, street art and merchandise giveaways.
In a first for Australia, Wingstop has partnered with music collective 92WRLD to curate four nights of entertainment, with some of the country’s most exciting hip hop artists set to perform, including Nerve, The 046, Planet Vegeta, DSP, MRVZ and Taktix, alongside emerging local talents. Special guest Hadyn Wings of Aussie Hip Hop platform and podcast Take Flight AU will be hosting on Friday and Saturday and bringing the hype to a stacked line up of culture.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Cameron MacLean said the activation captures the spirit of Parramatta Lanes, creating opportunities for local businesses and contributing to the city’s growing and vibrant, night-time economy.
“Parramatta Lanes has always been about discovering something unexpected and Wingstop WRLD is the perfect example of how our local businesses are helping take the festival experience to the next level,” Cr MacLean said.
“This is a one-of-a-kind, cultural experience bringing together music, sport, art and great food in the heart of our city.
“When businesses invest in experiences like these, they are helping create a festival atmosphere that strengthens our city as Sydney’s leading cultural and entertainment destination.”
This year, City of Parramatta has worked closely with businesses to develop unique experiences that add to the festival atmosphere and create new reasons for visitors to explore the city.
Some of the standout business experiences include:
- Parramatta’s Latin Quarter transforming Phillip Street into a four-night celebration of Latin food, music and culture with PARKROYAL Hotel Parramatta collaborating with Parranda Down Under, a Garcia Entertainment curated experience alongside live performances, soccer competitions, youth programming and a special opportunity for festival-goers to record a message to Colombian superstar Karol G.
- The University of Sydney celebrating the soon to be open Sydney Conservatorium of Music Parramatta as Education Partner of Parramatta Lanes, will transform Riverside Live at PHIVE into a hidden Lanes Jazz Bar featuring four nights of live ensembles, trios and bands as well as activate the PHIVE lobby with Sydney Ideas pop talks and musical experiences.
- Eckersley’s Art & Craft, returning with its crowd-favourite Paint Your Partner activation.
- Harvey’s Hot Sandwiches, launching the festival-exclusive Harvey’s Lanes Frites, available only during Parramatta Lanes.
