According to ABC News, a worker at Harmony Tree Therapeutic Massage and Day Spa in Weston remains in hospital after a car drove through the front of the business on Friday, injuring five people.
Three employees were initially pinned beneath the vehicle, which remained deep inside the building for some time after the crash. Harmony Tree employee Hannah Maloney, who was not at the business when it happened, said one of the three workers taken to hospital had suffered a broken hip and undergone two operations. She said the employee’s condition was now stable, while the other two staff members trapped under the vehicle had returned home.
Ms Maloney said workers present during the incident told her it happened so quickly that they did not initially understand what had occurred. They realised shortly afterwards that the building had been smashed, she said. The crash left the parlour with little remaining, according to Ms Maloney.
Police are also investigating an alleged robbery at the massage parlour on the night of the crash. A staff member’s phone, car keys, house keys and ATM card were reported stolen.
Ms Maloney said the period had been especially difficult for one of the business’s owners, Sukanya Loasoe, who had given birth five days before the incident. Staff were grateful for support offered by family, friends and customers, she said, and hoped the business could reopen soon.
