Arabic version: استراتيجية علاوة خيارات QQQ تستهدف تراجعًا محدودًا في ناسداك
According to Cnbc, concerns about OpenAI’s revenue growth have pressured neocloud stocks, while chip shares are selling off on worries about Chinese competition. The tech-heavy Nasdaq also faces the Federal Reserve’s first rate hike since 2023 in September, with another expected to follow.
Options markets have priced in larger swings than the Nasdaq-100 has delivered. QQQ’s implied-volatility index closed Monday near 20.7%, roughly matching the iShares Russell 2000 ETF’s level and exceeding the SPDR S&P 500 ETF’s 15%. For 29 straight sessions, QQQ implied volatility has remained at least three points above the volatility actually delivered by the index.
The proposed approach is to sell premium during weakness when market moves remain smaller than options pricing suggests. Based on Monday’s close, the cited trade sells the November 13 QQQ 720/710 put spread for an estimated $1.81 credit. It is a bullish-to-neutral position that reaches its maximum $181 profit if QQQ remains above $720 through November 13.
The spread has a breakeven of $718.19, about 3.7% below Monday’s close. Its maximum loss is $819 if QQQ closes below $710 at expiration, roughly 4.8% lower. The strategy carries a stated 70% theoretical probability of profit and an 80% theoretical chance of collecting half of the maximum profit.
Key calendar risks include CPI on Wednesday, bank and Taiwan Semiconductor earnings this week, and Microsoft and Alphabet results alongside the Federal Reserve decision on Oct. 28. Nvidia earnings are expected around November 18, a date the November 13 weekly expiration was selected to avoid. Spina disclosed ownership of the trade.
