Parramatta has been recognised at the Western Sydney Tourism Awards, winning the Gold Award for its record-breaking New Year’s Eve celebration in the ‘Best Events Campaign – Councils’ category.
The 2025 event attracted more than 70,000 attendees and generated $13.4 million in spending across Parramatta, making it the City’s largest New Year’s Eve celebration to date.
Held in Parramatta Park, the event featured performances by Jessica Mauboy, Emma Memma and Furnace and the Fundamentals with a fireworks display illuminating the park and City skyline.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cameron MacLean said the award – the third consecutive win at the Western Sydney Tourism Awards for Council – highlighted Parramatta’s growing reputation as Western Sydney’s premier destination for major events.
“Parramatta is a leading destination for major events, festivals and nightlife and this award recognises the success of our New Year’s Eve celebration in showcasing everything our City has to offer,” Cr MacLean said.
“Our major events attract thousands of visitors, bring communities together and support our thriving night-time economy, from restaurants and bars to hotels and entertainment venues.
“With an exciting line-up of new and much-loved events coming up this year, we’ll continue delivering experiences that encourage people to visit, stay and enjoy Parramatta.”
The Western Sydney Tourism Award recognises excellence in destination marketing and visitor experience.
