Dear friends,

One of the greatest strengths of Canterbury-Bankstown is its people.

Every day across our City, individuals, volunteers, community groups and organisations quietly make a difference. They support those in need, bring people together, create opportunities for others and help make Canterbury-Bankstown a welcoming, vibrant and inclusive place to live.

Our Australia Day Awards are an opportunity to recognise these local champions and celebrate the contributions they make to our community.

Each year, I am inspired by the stories of dedication, generosity and leadership shared through the nominations we receive. From passionate volunteers and young achievers to community organisations and environmental advocates, our award recipients reflect the very best of Canterbury-Bankstown.

I encourage you to take a moment to think about someone who deserves to be recognised. Perhaps it is a volunteer who always lends a helping hand, a young person making a positive impact, or a community group that works tirelessly to support local residents. By nominating them, you are helping shine a light on their achievements and thanking them for the difference they make.

If you know an individual, group or organisation that has made an outstanding contribution to our City, I encourage you to submit a nomination for the 2027 Australia Day Awards.

Nominations close Sunday 1 November at 11:59pm. To make a nomination, visit cb.city/AustraliaDayAwards

Regards,

Mayor Bilal El-Hayek
