Arabic version: برتران يقود مقترح استثمار بقيمة 87 مليون جنيه إسترليني في إي إف سي ويمبلدون
According to BBC News, former England defender Ryan Bertrand is leading a consortium that has proposed an £87m minority investment in League One club AFC Wimbledon.
Bertrand is working with British technology expert Omar Mir, the sole funder of the proposed buyout through Sloane Street Capital. The investment vehicle would put in £16m on completion for a 34% minority stake in AFCW PLC, with the remaining £71m spread across five seasons to the 2030-31 campaign.
If approved, Sloane Street Capital would oversee football operations, with Bertrand serving as senior football advisor, while operating within budgets and processes agreed by the AFCW PLC board. The Dons Trust would retain 50.01% of voting shares, preserving fan control.
The proposed terms also keep the Trust’s voting rights unchanged and give it veto control over the Cherry Red Records Stadium freehold, as well as the club’s name, badge, colours, ground and constitution. Trust members’ voting period ends on 17 November.
Dons Trust board chair Angus Fox said the proposal would bring at least £87m into the club over five years while maintaining the Trust’s permanent voting majority. The board recommends members vote in favour, though Fox said the final decision belongs to the membership.
