Under the theme of Peace, Beit Maroun in Sydney hosted a large interfaith gathering on the occasion of the Feast of the Annunciation, at the invitation of Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay and in the presence of the Interfaith Committee.
The event was attended by bishops, sheikhs, and representatives of Eastern churches in Sydney, NSW Minister Jihad Dib, Members of Parliament John Cury, David Saliba and Tina Ayyad, Lebanese Consul General Raymond Semlali, Consul Sarah Dirani, Commissioner for Multicultural Affairs Joseph La Posta, as well as representatives of Lebanese political parties, community organisations, Mr Elie Kaltoum Rahme Representing Oz Arab media, business leaders, and a large number of guests.
In his address, Bishop Tarabay spoke about the importance of peace and strengthening social harmony, expressing his appreciation for the Interfaith Committee members,
Minister Jihad Dib then delivered remarks on behalf of Multiculturalism Minister Steve Kamper, followed by an address from MP John Cury.
A panel discussion followed, moderated by Nesrine Khadra, featuring MP David Saliba, Consul Sarah Dirani, Joseph La Posta, and Tania Raffoul, focusing on peace, multiculturalism, and social cohesion.
