Arabic version: أنتروبيك ستناقش تعليق أداة الذكاء الاصطناعي مع مسؤولي البيت الأبيض
Executives from the artificial intelligence firm Anthropic are scheduled to meet with senior officials from the White House on Monday. This meeting comes in response to national security concerns regarding the company’s latest AI tool release. According to BBC News, the discussion will involve executives from Anthropic and the US Department of Commerce, led by Secretary Howard Lutnick.
Anthropic recently decided to block public access to its latest AI tool, which it has described as “too powerful.” This decision follows a directive from the US government prohibiting the firm from allowing any foreign national access to the technology. The tool in question, named Fable 5 or Mythos 5, has different controls; Fable 5 is a public version with extra safeguards, while Mythos 5 is restricted to a select group of organizations.
The company initially provided a preview and testing access to its AI model, Claude Mythos, to a limited number of organizations, including departments within the US government. Anthropic’s CEO Dario Amodei is expected to attend the meeting with Secretary Lutnick. Representatives from both the Department of Commerce and Anthropic have not commented on the situation.
Anthropic acknowledged that making a version of Mythos available to the public “comes with risks,” noting that Fable’s capabilities surpass those of any previous models made available. Shortly after its release, the US government reported a potential “jailbreak” vulnerability, which could allow unauthorized use of the AI tool. Anthropic stated it had only received “verbal evidence” of this issue.
The ongoing discussions reflect a complicated relationship between Anthropic and the government, which has included legal disputes over the use of its models. Despite previous tensions, a recent meeting between Anthropic and White House officials was described as “productive.” The outcome of Monday’s meeting remains uncertain, particularly regarding the future accessibility of both Fable 5 and Mythos 5.
