Arabic version: الاقتصادات الآسيوية تواجه صعوبات بسبب أزمة الطاقة الناتجة عن الصراع في إيران
The ongoing war on Iran is causing significant challenges for Asian economies, as rising fuel costs and inflation put pressure on governments across the region. According to Al Jazeera, the fallout includes fuel shortages, blackouts, and increased living costs.
In response to the escalating energy crisis, various governments are adopting measures to mitigate the impact. Some are rationing fuel supplies, while others are reintroducing subsidies or imposing limits on exports. The longer the Strait of Hormuz remains disrupted, the worse it gets for vulnerable economies.
As oil prices surge, import bills are rising sharply, coinciding with a decline in remittances and a weakening of local currencies. The costs of essential goods such as fuel, food, and fertilizer are increasing, forcing governments to deplete their reserves, increase borrowing, or make cuts in other areas to manage the crisis.
