Arabic version: موسيقي أسترالي يُمنع من دخول الولايات المتحدة، وصديقته تصدر اعتذارًا
Keli Holiday, whose real name is Adam Hyde, an Australian musician, has had to cut short his North American tour after being banned from re-entering the United States. The musician, known for his work in the electronic duo Peking Duk, was detained at the US-Canada border despite possessing the necessary visa documentation. His situation unfolded after he traveled to Toronto for a performance and attempted to return to New York for another gig.
According to BBC News, Holiday expressed his confusion over the incident in a social media post, stating he had spent all day at the border and was still seeking clarity on the matter. The unexpected ban has raised questions about the reasons behind it.
The situation escalated when his girlfriend, TV host Abbie Chatfield, issued an apology for a video she posted in July 2025 that criticized former President Donald Trump. She addressed speculation that the video might have influenced Holiday’s ban, emphasizing that he was not aware of the video before the incident.
In her apology, Chatfield clarified that her comments had been misinterpreted and asserted that she had not incited any political violence against Trump. She also stressed that any backlash directed at Holiday was unwarranted, as he had not seen the video. Holiday has since returned to Australia following the incident.
This occurrence comes in the wake of new US regulations that require tourists to provide a five-year social media history as part of their entry process, raising concerns about the implications for international travelers.
