American rapper Azealia Banks has announced her attendance at the upcoming Spectator magazine summer party in London. Known for her outspoken political views, Banks shared her plans on social media, stating, “I’ll be in London July 3 for @spectator.” This announcement prompted a response from Spectator editor Michael Gove, who expressed his enthusiasm by replying, “Looking forward!”.
The annual Spectator summer party is set to take place in the garden behind the magazine’s offices in Westminster and typically features a mix of prominent figures from UK politics, media, and culture. Banks has recently gained attention for her support of Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch, having publicly stated her admiration for Badenoch on social media. In May, she encouraged her followers to vote Conservative, saying, “I hope you all vote conservative and listen to Kemi Badenoch.”
In a previous post, Banks referred to Badenoch as “f**king iconic,” emphasizing her respect for the Conservative leader’s professionalism compared to other political figures. Banks, who has had a controversial career marked by social media feuds with celebrities like Nicki Minaj and Zayn Malik, continues to be a polarizing figure in both music and political discourse.
According to The Guardian, Banks’ political engagement has been a significant aspect of her public persona, with her recent posts reflecting her strong opinions on various issues. Her debut single, “212,” received critical acclaim and is listed among Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, showcasing her influence in the music industry as well as her evolving political stance.
