The cryptocurrency Bitcoin recently soared to unprecedented heights, surpassing $73,000 and eclipsing its prior peak of approximately $69,000. This significant milestone was propelled by the increased interest in spot Bitcoin Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs).
Cointelegraph, a leading cryptocurrency media outlet, reported this new record price, drawing on data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView.
Earlier in the week, Bitcoin achieved its highest price to date, exceeding $72,000 on Monday morning, marking its most substantial record in over two years.
However, Bitcoin’s journey to success has not been without challenges. Over the past two years, the cryptocurrency landscape has been marred by numerous bankruptcies, fraud cases, and market crashes. Despite these obstacles, Bitcoin has experienced a resurgence in recent months. This revival is largely attributed to the growing retail interest spurred by the filing of Bitcoin ETF applications in the United States.
The recent surge in Bitcoin’s price is part of a broader rally in the cryptocurrency market. Paul Chaturvedi, Investment Lead at Coin Switch Ventures, emphasized the importance of monitoring these market flows. He suggested that the increased demand, coupled with the anticipated reduction in supply due to the forthcoming fourth halving, could drive prices upward.
The approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs by the US Securities and Exchange Commission in January marked a pivotal moment for the cryptocurrency market, opening doors to a new wave of investors.
Since the inception of trading for spot Bitcoin ETFs, the cryptocurrency market has witnessed an influx of over $6 billion, indicating a growing confidence and interest in digital currencies.
