According to BBC News,

Chelsea Football Club is set to conclude a disappointing season in the Women’s Super League (WSL) with one match remaining and no trophies to their name. This marks a stark decline from the previous season, where the team secured an unbeaten domestic treble. Chelsea’s recent FA Cup semi-final loss to Manchester City and their exit from the Champions League against Arsenal have contributed to what is shaping up to be the club’s worst season since 2018-19.

Despite the frustrations expressed by fans, Bompastor’s position appears secure, with club sources indicating she has their support. Following a heavy defeat to Manchester City in February, Bompastor hinted she would accept a departure if deemed necessary, yet shortly after, she signed a contract extension until 2030. This decision underscores the club’s commitment to her leadership despite the current challenges.

Bompastor has faced difficulties this season, primarily due to a lack of squad depth. Key players have been sidelined by injuries, including striker Sam Kerr and center-back Nathalie Bjorn. Additionally, the club’s limited transfer activity has left the team vulnerable, as only two of five summer signings have emerged as regular starters. The departure of Paul Green, the former head of women’s football, has further complicated the situation for Bompastor.

Looking ahead, Bompastor acknowledges that the season has not met the club’s ambitions. She has expressed a desire for a transitional phase, aiming to rebuild and strengthen the squad. Chelsea is reportedly interested in signing Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw, which could signal a proactive approach in the summer transfer window. Bompastor emphasized the need for the club to return to competing for titles next season, stating, “We want to make sure next year we are fighting for the title again.”
