The City’s largest sportsground, Doyle Ground, is set for a multimillion-dollar transformation that will see the upgrade of the existing sports fields, new synthetic cricket wickets, solar circuit path lighting and furniture for the community to enjoy.

Doyle Ground is one of seven open spaces identified within the Heart of Play master plan, a blueprint to deliver a network of sporting and recreation spaces across North Parramatta, and the community is invited to have their say on the proposed upgrades.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter said the major revamp is much needed for the local families and community sports clubs that enjoy exercising and playing different sports at Doyle Ground.

“Parramatta is growing rapidly, so it’s crucial that we invest in premium, modern open spaces for local families and sporting groups to enjoy,” Cr Zaiter said.

“This is about delivering a high-quality sporting facility that accommodates a range of sports, fit for our growing City for many years to come.”

The $9.5 million Stage 1 project is funded by City of Parramatta and the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant Program, with construction set to start in 2026.

Planning for Stage 2 is underway, these further works will be funded and delivered by Council and is set to include the design and construction of a new sports pavilion, cricket nets and additional parking bays.

Submissions are welcome until 5pm on Wednesday 1 April 2026.
