Arabic version: كولبيرت يسخر من خطاب ترامب حول إيران وإقالة المدعي العام
Stephen Colbert opened Thursday’s Late Show by celebrating the new US moon mission but quickly shifted focus to President Trump’s recent prime-time address regarding the war in Iran and the firing of Attorney General Pam Bondi. Colbert humorously noted, “Speaking of human waste, just a few hours ago we learnt that President Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi,” referencing the controversial handling of Epstein files under her oversight.
In a comedic farewell to Bondi, Colbert presented a mock letter filled with blacked-out text, a nod to the numerous redactions associated with the Epstein case. He quipped, “Saying that the villain of the Epstein files is Pam Bondi is like saying the lead in Die Hard is the dad from Family Matters.”
Colbert then turned his attention to Trump’s military address, stating, “It was all the stuff you’ve heard before but now delivered by a narcotized turtle.” He criticized Trump’s update on the Iran conflict, explaining, “The only real information he offered was that other wars lasted longer.”
Colbert humorously pointed out Trump’s comparison of the current conflict to historical wars, saying, “Frasier went on for 11 years,” and joked about the run times of various TV shows to emphasize the absurdity of Trump’s remarks. According to The Guardian, Colbert’s comedic take resonated with audiences, highlighting the often surreal nature of political discourse in America.
