The family of Diane and Keith Blessing, a couple attacked during a suspected home invasion, expressed their deep trauma following the incident. The couple, aged 75 and 72 respectively, are currently recovering in a hospital on the Gold Coast after being stabbed by a 34-year-old man who allegedly broke into their rural home in Torrington, New South Wales, on Friday. According to ABC News, the alleged intruder was shot when he attempted to re-enter the residence.

Joshua Dylan Trethewey has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent to murder and is currently in an induced coma. The motive behind this attack remains unclear, as police continue their investigation into what has been described as a “rare and unthinkable” tragedy.
In response to the incident, residents of Torrington gathered at a town hall meeting to discuss safety concerns. Inspector James Parsons from the New England Police District reassured attendees that such cases are extremely rare. Community members raised worries about emergency response capabilities, particularly regarding mobile reception issues that could hinder their ability to call for help. Police advised residents to secure their homes and gates to enhance safety.
