Counter-terrorism police are investigating an arson attack on a business in Hendon, north-west London. The incident occurred on Friday night when a man was seen approaching a row of shops with a plastic bag containing three bottles containing fluid. He placed the bag next to the building and lit the items in the bag, but the bottles failed to fully ignite. The man fled the scene, causing minor damage to the shopfront, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. Fire crews also attended the location.

According to BBC News, the attack is not being treated as a terrorist incident and is not currently linked to other arson attempts in the area. No arrests have been made in connection with this incident.

In addition to the Hendon attack, counter-terrorism officers are also looking into attempted arson incidents targeting a Persian language media organization and a synagogue in Finchley. Furthermore, ambulances belonging to a Jewish charity were set alight in Golders Green.

Commander Helen Flanagan stated that while last night’s arson is not being linked to other incidents in the north-west London area over the last week or last month’s arson in Golders Green, the similarities between the attacks warrant the involvement of counter-terrorism officers. She emphasized the commitment of law enforcement to pursue those responsible for these hateful acts against local communities.

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams acknowledged the concerns of local residents and noted that police presence in the area has been heightened, including the deployment of armed patrols and officers trained to identify suspicious behavior.
