According to BBC News,

Wales manager Craig Bellamy is in advanced talks with Burnley over becoming their new head coach ahead of next season. The Clarets have approached the Football Association of Wales with a view to appointing Bellamy as Scott Parker’s successor, with the 46-year-old now understood to be in contract talks with the Championship side.

While a final agreement is yet to be reached, talks have accelerated in the last 48 hours with significant progress made. Initially, Bellamy expressed a desire to remain with Wales to guide the team through a home nations European Championships in 2028. However, he is now seriously considering the opportunity at Burnley.

Bellamy, who was appointed Wales boss in 2024, faced disappointment as the team failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, losing to Bosnia and Herzegovina during a penalty shootout in Cardiff. His contract with the FAW was set to last until 2028, coinciding with the European Championships hosted by England, Scotland, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland.

A potential move to Burnley would mark Bellamy’s return to Turf Moor, where he previously served as assistant manager under Vincent Kompany before the latter’s transfer to Bayern Munich. Following Kompany’s departure, Bellamy was briefly named acting head coach but left shortly thereafter.

Burnley is reportedly prepared to meet the compensation clause in Bellamy’s contract with the FAW, which would be a significant setback for the governing body. They had hoped he would stay, especially after he indicated a preference to continue in his role with Wales. If Bellamy departs, former Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Swansea City manager Steve Cooper, along with ex-Wolves head coach Rob Edwards, are among those being considered as potential successors.
