On Thursday, October 24th, Sydney’s iconic Museum of Contemporary Arts (MCA) played host to a celebration that was as much about the future as it was about the past—the 30th anniversary of Cultural Perspectives. This milestone event gathered dignitaries, clients, past and present staff, and key figures from the community to honour three decades of groundbreaking work in supporting culturally and linguistically diverse, as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across Australia.

The evening was a testament to the vision of Managing Director Pino Migliorino, who founded Cultural Perspectives with a mission to bring expertise in communicating, engaging, and researching diverse communities. Over the years, the organisation has become a trusted voice in navigating cultural nuances, always with a view toward inclusion and equity. To celebrate 30 years of successful service, Pino, alongside Lena Etuk (Director of Research and Evaluation), Sarah Migliorino (Director of Communications), and Rea Singh (Director of Engagement), welcomed guests warmly and looked ahead to the bright future of the company.

The celebration kicked off with guests arriving at 6pm, greeted by members of the Cultural Perspectives team and directed to the stunning Harbourside room. As guests settled in with hot and cold canapés provided by The Big Group, Nicole He officially opened the evening, providing a warm welcome and housekeeping announcements.
A moving Welcome to Country was delivered by Yvonne Weldon, grounding the event in the cultural significance of the land upon which it was held. This was followed by Pino Migliorino’s own words of welcome, highlighting Cultural Perspectives’ journey and accomplishments. The celebration also included remarks from Jeff Pope, AEC Deputy Commissioner, who provided his reflections on the invaluable contribution of Cultural Perspectives to Australia’s multicultural landscape.

One of the evening’s most notable moments was the panel discussion by Lena Etuk, Sarah Migliorino, and Rea Singh, which explored the future of Cultural Perspectives. The conversation illuminated the company’s ongoing commitment to innovating how Australia communicates and engages with its diverse communities. It reflected on how far Cultural Perspectives has come, and, just as importantly, where they intend to go—with a focus on deepening impact, expanding reach, and continuing to address the evolving needs of communities across the country.
The formalities concluded with words of thanks from Nicole He and Pino Migliorino, expressing gratitude to staff, partners, and clients who have supported the journey over these three decades. As the evening transitioned to a more celebratory tone, guests enjoyed a musical set by Veneno and indulged in dessert canapés, relishing the opportunity to connect and reminisce.

Dignitaries in attendance included Jeff Pope from the Australian Electoral Commission, Padma Raman, Professor Andrew Jakubowicz, Violet Roumeliotis AM, and Professor Peter Shergold. Their presence underscored the significant influence and respect Cultural Perspectives has garnered throughout its 30-year journey.

The 30th anniversary was not just a celebration of the past, but a launching pad for the next chapter of Cultural Perspectives’ journey—one that promises to build on its rich history of fostering understanding, breaking down barriers, and uplifting the voices of Australia’s diverse cultural communities.
