Sarah Green, daughter of Deborah Green, the leader of the Aggressive Christianity Missions Training Corps, recounted her harrowing upbringing in a recent interview. Deborah, who claimed to be a vessel for God, controlled every aspect of her followers’ lives, leaving Sarah feeling like a prisoner.

According to The Guardian, Sarah first recognized the severity of her mother’s control when she witnessed three women from the community being locked in a shed as punishment. The women, disowned by their husbands, were forced to live off scraps, while their names were changed to Forsaken, Barren, and Despised. This shocking revelation left Sarah deeply disturbed, prompting her to secretly provide them with food.

Deborah Green, originally named Lila Carter, transformed from a nurturing mother to a harsh cult leader after claiming she was receiving direct messages from God. The family had previously lived a relatively normal life as missionaries in Mexico, but Deborah’s newfound beliefs led to the formation of ACMTC, which was initially called Free Love Ministries. The organization, however, became known for its strict and abusive practices.

Sarah described her childhood as filled with fear and manipulation, where her father, Jim Green, enforced Deborah’s harsh disciplinary measures on her and her brother. The family dynamic shifted dramatically, with physical abuse and strict control becoming the norm. In her book, “The Oracle’s Daughter: A Woman’s Escape From Her Mother’s Cult,” Sarah details these experiences and her eventual escape from the cult’s grasp.

Now 53, Sarah has made significant strides in her recovery, living in Hawaii and working towards a new career. Despite her progress, she acknowledges the ongoing challenges of healing from her traumatic past, which she describes as a form of PTSD. Her story serves as a powerful reminder of the impact of cult dynamics on personal lives.
