To celebrate the 121st anniversary of the establishment of Heliopolis and the sixth anniversary of the opening of the Baron Empain Palace, the palace, in collaboration with the Heliopolis Heritage Initiative, is organizing two exhibitions from Saturday, June 27, to Friday, July 10.
The first exhibition, titled “Heliopolis in the Past,” features a collection of rare artifacts that document the unique character and history of this distinguished neighborhood.
The second exhibition, titled “Inspired by Heliopolis,” showcases a range of artworks inspired by the spirit, architecture, and ambiance of the area.
Both exhibitions will open at 3 PM today, Saturday, and will be overseen by artist Ashraf Nasif.
Dr. Osama Abou Nar, a prominent participant in the “Inspired by Heliopolis” exhibition, emphasized that the exhibition includes paintings and drawings all derived from the unique architectural heritage that characterizes the neighborhood, aiming to document this rich legacy and highlight its aesthetic beauty.
Abou Nar stated that the exhibition features artists from various artistic schools who have successfully presented works that reflect the architectural and historical value of Heliopolis. In his contribution to the exhibition, he chose to depict the architectural style distinctive to the area, capturing the unique architectural features of the neighborhood that are rarely found in other neighborhoods around the world.
He added that visual arts play a significant role in documenting and promoting tourism in countries and that many nations rely on this aspect. He cited the Venice Biennale as a prime example, which is regarded as the most important global art event and has successfully positioned the city as a leading tourist destination worldwide.
