Arabic version: تصاعد الصراع: هجمات الولايات المتحدة وإسرائيل تتصاعد في اليوم السابع عشر على إيران
On the 17th day of the US-Israel war against Iran, Israel has launched a new wave of attacks on Tehran. According to Al Jazeera, these escalations have prompted a series of responses across the Gulf region, including the temporary suspension of flights at Dubai International Airport following a drone-related fire.
In Iran, the Israeli strikes have reportedly damaged a clinic operated by the Iranian Red Crescent Society. In retaliation, Iran’s Mehr news agency stated that it is responding to “hostile targets in the skies” over Tehran. Iranian officials claim that the majority of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) weaponry remains intact, despite ongoing hostilities. The spokesperson for the IRGC, Brigadier-General Ali Mohammad Naini, indicated that the missiles used in the ongoing war are from a “decade ago” and that Iran has not yet fired the missiles produced since the 12-day war with Israel.
In the Gulf, Dubai authorities confirmed that a fire erupted near the airport due to a drone incident, but operations have since resumed on a limited basis. Concurrently, Saudi Arabia intercepted 37 drones, though the origin of these drones was not disclosed. Other Gulf nations, including Bahrain and Kuwait, also reported similar interceptions of drones.
In the United States, President Donald Trump asserted that the US has effectively diminished Iran’s military capabilities, claiming that Iran is “militarily ineffective and weak.” He criticized Iran for utilizing artificial intelligence to disseminate disinformation regarding its military actions.
The conflict has not spared Lebanon, where Israeli air raids have reportedly increased, raising the death toll to 850, including over 100 children. The situation remains dire as hostilities continue to escalate across the region, with significant implications for civilian safety and regional stability.
