Arabic version: القبض على المشتبه به الرابع في هجوم الحرق المتعمد على سيارات الإسعاف التابعة لجمعية يهودية
A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with the arson attack on Jewish charity-owned ambulances in Golders Green, north London, according to BBC News. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed that the individual was apprehended on Saturday morning at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that four suspects participated in the attack, which occurred in the early hours of 23 March. Three of the suspects, identified as Hamza Iqbal, 20, Rehan Khan, 19, and a 17-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, have been charged with arson with intent to damage property and recklessness regarding endangering life. They have been remanded in custody following their court appearance.
The Metropolitan Police reported that the ambulances were set ablaze in the car park of a synagogue in Golders Green, causing nearly £1 million in damage. Prosecutors indicated that there is strong evidence suggesting the attack was a “premeditated and targeted attack against the Jewish community.”
Additional police patrols have been deployed in areas with significant Jewish populations as a precautionary measure. Counter-terror police are leading the investigation but have not classified the incident as terrorism. The three charged suspects are scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on 24 April.
