Glenn Close and Ridley Scott are among the names set to receive honorary Oscars at this year’s Governors Awards, recognizing their significant contributions to the film industry. Both have faced multiple nominations without winning, with Close receiving eight nominations and Scott four. This year’s ceremony is scheduled for November 15.

According to The Guardian, the Academy has described the honorees as “five remarkable individuals whose groundbreaking work has forever shaped the art of film-making.” Close is known for her roles in films like *Fatal Attraction*, *Dangerous Liaisons*, and most recently *Hillbilly Elegy*, while Scott has directed classics such as *Thelma & Louise* and *Gladiator*.

In addition to Close and Scott, animator Floyd Norman and producers Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler will also be honored. Norman, at 90 years old, has a storied career that includes early work at Disney and contributions to films like *Monsters Inc.* Vachon and Koffler received their first Oscar nomination for *Past Lives* and are recognized for their impactful work on various acclaimed films.

The honorary Oscar is awarded to individuals for exceptional lifetime achievement or contributions to the motion picture arts. Last year’s ceremony celebrated figures like Tom Cruise and Dolly Parton.
