Iran has condemned recent US military strikes, claiming they violate a recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU). According to Al Jazeera, the US military conducted these strikes in retaliation for a drone attack on a cargo ship a day earlier in the Strait of Hormuz, which President Trump attributed to Iran.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that the US attacks targeted coastal surveillance facilities, breaching Article 1 of the MoU. In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it targeted US military locations in the region, asserting that the US actions constituted aggression. However, no reports confirmed that US targets were hit by the time of publication.

An Iranian parliament member criticized the US for its strikes during ongoing negotiations, suggesting they reveal a lack of commitment to diplomatic solutions. Meanwhile, Iranian officials emphasized that the MoU grants Tehran control over vessels in the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz.

On the US side, Central Command (CENTCOM) reported targeting Iranian missile and drone storage sites, alongside coastal radar installations. Vice President JD Vance warned that any violence would be met with further violence, reinforcing the US stance in the escalating conflict.
