More than 100 children in Iran have been killed by US and Israeli air strikes on a girls’ elementary school, according to Iranian authorities. Rescue workers and residents have been seen searching through the rubble in the city of Minab, located in southern Iran.

Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir-Saeid Iravani, has accused the US and Israel of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure, stating that “hundreds of civilians have been killed and injured” as a result of these actions. He described the strikes as a “war crime” and a “crime against humanity” during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council. According to ABC News, the figures provided by Iranian authorities have not been independently verified.

The Shajareh Tayyebeh school was reportedly bombed during daylight hours when it was filled with students. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the attack, asserting that “dozens of innocent children have been murdered” and promising that these acts would not go unanswered. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as groups of men worked to lift debris in search of survivors, with school bags visible among the rubble.

While Iran continues to report rising civilian casualties, the US and Israel have not yet responded to these claims. Reports indicate that this week’s military operations have resulted in the largest civilian death toll in Iran to date. Outside of Iran, casualties have also been reported, including a woman in Tel Aviv and multiple fatalities in Iraq and the United Arab Emirates due to related missile strikes.

The US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) has denied claims of American casualties, labeling Iranian assertions as false. The escalating conflict has led to increased tensions in the region, with both sides conducting retaliatory strikes. Notably, Iranian state media has confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the air strikes.
