Arabic version: السلطة القضائية الإيرانية تشدد حملتها ضد العملاء الأجانب المزعومين
Iran’s judiciary has pledged to take “decisive” action against individuals accused of serving foreign interests, coinciding with a rise in executions and asset seizures. According to Al Jazeera, judiciary and security officials stated they would act without leniency against what they term “enemies’ mercenaries.”
This announcement follows the execution of three men arrested during protests in Mashhad in January, which Iranian officials have characterized as a “coup” attempt orchestrated by the United States and Israel. State media reported these individuals were accused of being agents for the Israeli intelligence service, Mossad, and were involved in violent actions against security forces.
The judiciary has accelerated the legal process for individuals arrested in connection with the protests, asserting that all proceedings are lawful and executions are sanctioned by the Supreme Court. However, human rights organizations claim that many prisoners are denied fair trials and face coercion to silence their families regarding their arrests.
In addition to executions, Iranian authorities have begun confiscating assets from individuals identified as traitors linked to Israel. Recently, 22 such individuals had their assets seized in Semnan province. Amid ongoing economic difficulties exacerbated by a naval blockade from the US, Iranian officials have warned of severe penalties for hoarding and price gouging, as inflation continues to impact daily life.
As the conflict with the US and Israel persists, the Central Bank of Iran has acknowledged the rising prices of essential goods, attributing them to the war and sanctions, while urging citizens to remain resilient.
