Ireland’s cricket team achieved a remarkable milestone by defeating India in the second T20 international at Stormont, securing the series win with a thrilling one-run victory. This marks the first time India has lost a T20 series since 2023.

According to BBC News, Ireland’s innings concluded at 154-8, with Harry Tector leading the scoring with 53 runs off 47 balls. The Indian bowling attack was led by P. Yadav, who took three wickets for 22 runs.

In response, India managed to score 153-9, with Tilak 55 runs off 46 balls. Despite a strong effort, including a late surge that required eight runs from the final two balls, India fell short as Harshit Rana was caught off the penultimate ball, sealing Ireland’s victory.

Jai Moondra and Matthew Hollard were standout performers for Ireland, each claiming three wickets and playing crucial roles in the team’s success. Moondra’s impressive debut performance included taking the wicket of India’s captain, Shreyas Iyer, which significantly impacted India’s momentum.

This victory follows Ireland’s historic win over India just days earlier, marking their first triumph against the world champions in any format. The sold-out crowd of 4,000 at Stormont witnessed a historic weekend for Irish cricket, which also included the team’s first win in the Women’s T20 World Cup.

The triumph is particularly notable as it came with several key players sidelined due to injuries, showcasing Ireland’s depth and resilience in the face of challenges.
