The Israeli Defense Minister said in a statement that the army will “act forcefully” and attack targets across Gaza. 

Israel Katz threatened that “Hamas will pay a heavy price for any shooting and violation of the ceasefire.”

The Israeli military said the strikes were in response to an alleged attack by Palestinians on its troops in southern Rafah, however, the armed wing of Hamas has denied having any knowledge or connection to the assault.

Several Palestinians have been wounded and killed in the blockaded strip since Sunday morning, the latest in a string of Israeli breaches of the truce deal.
