Arabic version: غارة جوية إسرائيلية تودي بحياة شخصين في غزة
An Israeli airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a six-year-old girl, according to Palestinian health officials. The strike occurred overnight in a tent encampment located in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis, wounding 17 others, many of whom are children.
The victims have been identified as six-year-old Mennatallah Abu Libda and 31-year-old Hanan Mahmoud. Witnesses reported that the attack was executed by two helicopters. The Israeli military claimed the operation targeted militants in the area, although no further details were provided.
Relatives of the deceased mourned their loss at a local hospital. Khader Abu Libda, a relative of the girl, expressed his disillusionment with the ceasefire, stating, “There is no ceasefire, nothing at all. It’s all just deceiving people, nothing more and nothing less.” According to SBS News, approximately 900 Palestinians have died in attacks since a truce commenced in October.
The ceasefire, which was brokered by US President Donald Trump, has failed to prevent ongoing Israeli attacks in the region. Israel currently maintains control over more than half of Gaza, while Hamas governs a smaller coastal territory. The continued violence highlights the deepening conflict, with both sides locked in indirect negotiations regarding disarmament and military withdrawals. The situation remains dire as the humanitarian crisis in Gaza escalates.
