Arabic version: غارات جوية إسرائيلية تقتل تسعة في لبنان، وحزب الله يرد بالصواريخ
Israeli strikes killed at least nine people in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, according to local authorities. Among the deceased were two paramedics whose ambulance was hit in a strike in the Chehour area, while other strikes targeted vehicles and locations throughout the region.
In retaliation, Hezbollah claimed to have fired rockets into northern Israel, asserting that they targeted a gathering of Israeli troops. This escalation comes as both Israeli and Lebanese diplomats engaged in talks in Washington to reinforce a partial ceasefire agreement established earlier this week. According to BBC News, the ceasefire was intended to halt hostilities, with Lebanon expecting Israel to refrain from attacks on Beirut.
The health ministry in Lebanon reported that four Syrians and two Palestinians were among those killed in southern strikes. Additionally, a Lebanese soldier was killed in an Israeli air strike on the road between Nabatieh and Kfar Tebnit, further intensifying the conflict. The ministry condemned the Israeli military for what it described as a violation of international humanitarian law, particularly concerning the targeting of medical personnel.
Despite the ceasefire, Israeli military operations have continued, with reports of intercepted projectiles and drone threats. Israeli leaders have warned that military actions will persist if Hezbollah continues cross-border attacks. The ongoing violence has resulted in significant casualties, with over 3,516 reported deaths in Lebanon since the conflict escalated in early March.
