Arabic version: غارة طائرة مسيرة إسرائيلية تودي بحياة أب وابنته في غزة
A father and his daughter have been killed in an Israeli drone attack in central Khan Younis, southern Gaza, early on Saturday. This incident is part of ongoing violence in the region as Palestinians continue to endure suffering amid global attention on the US-Israeli conflict with Iran. According to Al Jazeera, another person was killed and a young girl was wounded in a subsequent attack later the same day.
Israeli forces continue carrying out air strikes, artillery shelling, and naval bombardment on Gaza daily, despite an October 11 “ceasefire”. The situation in Gaza and the occupied West Bank remains dire, with reports of two additional injuries in the past 48 hours, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
Israeli army-affiliated militias are reportedly advancing east of Gaza City, with heavy gunfire in the area. Initial reports indicate a member of the Palestinian police was abducted during these operations. Israeli warplanes also struck several locations near Gaza City, while the Israeli navy fired heavy machine guns and shells along the coast.
The Rafah border crossing, which had recently reopened to allow limited travel for Palestinians, remains closed due to ongoing military actions against Iran. The Karem Abu Salem crossing is partially open for humanitarian aid but under strict conditions. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has worsened, with nearly the entire population of over two million people displaced and heavily reliant on aid.
Since the ceasefire, at least 640 Palestinians have been killed, and at least 1,700 have been wounded, as reported by the Health Ministry. The United Nations has indicated that at least 1,094 Palestinians have died due to Israeli military actions and settler violence in the West Bank since the conflict escalated in October 2023.
