Arabic version: إصابة رجل إسرائيلي في عملية طعن في غور الأردن

According to Al Jazeera, Israeli forces launched search operations in the Jordan Valley after an Israeli man was wounded in a stabbing at a commercial complex near the village of al-Auja in the eastern occupied West Bank. Israeli public broadcaster Kan, citing a security source, reported that the attack occurred on the main road near the village.

Israeli police said the victim, a man in his 20s, was moderately wounded. The Israeli army said the suspect fled after the attack and that it began a large-scale search operation with a substantial police presence. The military said it established roadblocks in al-Auja and surrounding areas, adding in a Telegram post that it was in constant contact with residents and security forces in the area.

Hamas said the attack responded to what it described as Israeli violations and military operations in the occupied West Bank and Palestinian territories, as well as escalating violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex in occupied East Jerusalem. The group said the operation showed Palestinians were determined to resist the occupation despite what it called campaigns of oppression, persecution and escalating terrorism.

In a separate incident on Sunday, Israeli forces fired gas canisters and closed the western entrance to al-Mughayyir village, north of Ramallah, according to video footage and Palestinian officials. Wafa reported that troops prevented residents from entering or leaving, carried out field interrogations, mistreated young men and fired gas bombs towards vehicles. The agency said the western entrance is the village’s only outlet after Israeli forces closed its eastern entrance in October 2023.

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs data cited by Al Jazeera recorded 3,033 Israeli settler attacks between January 1, 2025, and June 31, 2026. The report said 761 attacks were recorded in the first four months of 2026, an average of 190 per month, compared with 153 per month in 2025.
