Arabic version: جيريميا أزو يفشل في الحصول على ميدالية في البطولات الداخلية
Defending champion Jeremiah Azu narrowly missed out on a medal in the men’s 60m final at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland. According to BBC News, Azu clocked 6.46 seconds, just 0.01 seconds behind the podium finishers.
Azu, who won his first global title in 2025, faced fierce competition in the final. He had previously set a personal best of 6.45 seconds in the semi-finals, which placed him second on the British all-time list behind Dwain Chambers. American Jordan Anthony led the race with a time of 6.41 seconds, while Jamaica’s Kishane Thompson and American Trayvon Bromell both finished at 6.45 seconds to secure the remaining medals.
Despite missing out on a medal, Azu’s performance showcased his ongoing improvement. He had previously run a personal best of 6.47 seconds earlier this month, indicating significant progress since his breakthrough gold last year. Azu’s journey has been marked by a return to Wales and a reunion with his childhood coach, Helen James.
Looking ahead, Azu aims for success in the 2026 season, targeting international competitions such as the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the European Championships in Birmingham. His recent achievements suggest a promising future as he seeks to continue his upward trajectory in athletics.
