The Jewish Leadership Council has condemned the Wireless festival for booking Kanye West, also known as Ye, to headline all three nights of the forthcoming north London event. The council described the decision as “deeply irresponsible” given the recent rise in antisemitic attacks against the UK Jewish community. According to The Guardian, West has a history of antisemitic behavior, including releasing a song titled “Heil Hitler,” calling himself a Nazi, and selling T-shirts featuring swastikas.

The festival, organized by Festival Republic, part of Live Nation, announced that West would perform each night, marking his first UK shows in 11 years. His performances follow the release of his latest album, “Bully,” which debuted last week.

A spokesperson for the Jewish Leadership Council stated that West has used his platform to spread antisemitism and pro-Nazi messaging, emphasizing that any venue should reconsider offering him a platform. The UK Jewish community is currently facing record levels of antisemitism, including a terrorist attack in Manchester, the attack on ambulances in Golders Green, and foiled plots which would have killed many more.

Wireless festival organizers have not commented on the backlash. In the past, West’s controversial remarks led to Adidas ending its partnership with him and his barring from entry to Australia. The festival is scheduled to take place from July 10-12, and West remains the only act announced so far.
