Arabic version: طرد نواب ليبراليين أثناء انتقاد الائتلاف لسياسات الضرائب لدى العمال
In a heated session of question time, two Liberal MPs were ejected from the chamber as the Coalition launched a strong attack on the Labor government’s handling of tax policies and migration. According to The Guardian, Liberal MP Tony Pasin was the first to be removed following a confrontation with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, which escalated after Albanese made an unparliamentary remark.
The session intensified as Opposition Leader Angus Taylor accused Labor of misleading, deceiving, and bending the truth regarding housing and investment taxes. He questioned the Prime Minister’s integrity, asking, “When did the Prime Minister decide that the truth does not matter?” Albanese responded by redirecting the criticism back at Taylor, highlighting his past performance as a measure of future reliability.
The tension continued as Liberal MP Phil Thompson was also booted from the chamber for excessive interjections. The exchanges underscored the Coalition’s strategy to focus on integrity and accountability in the government’s tax reforms.
Amidst the chaos, independent MP Allegra Spender called for legislation to address bracket creep, seeking a commitment from the government to return additional tax revenues to the public. Albanese defended the government’s approach, emphasizing that recent tax changes would ultimately benefit young Australians seeking to invest in property.
As the session drew to a close, the focus remained on the implications of the government’s tax reforms and their impact on ordinary Australians, particularly in the housing market.
