A three-year-old boy was left with critical injuries after ending up in a crocodile enclosure at Johnsons Zoo in Old Hurst, near Huntingdon. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a swift response from emergency services. According to BBC News, the child was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with serious injuries and is in a stable condition.
In connection with the incident, a 30-year-old man from Norfolk has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Authorities have stated that the man and the child were not known to each other, and investigations are ongoing. Detective Inspector Verity McCann from Cambridgeshire Police mentioned that officers are speaking to people who were at the zoo at the time of this distressing incident to understand more about the circumstances.
Local MP Ben Obese-Jecty expressed his concern for the boy and his family, emphasizing the need for the public to avoid speculation regarding the incident. He is in contact with senior police officials who are treating the situation as a critical incident.
Emergency services, including the East of England Ambulance Service and a critical care team from Magpas Air Ambulance, responded to the scene. They arrived shortly after the incident was reported and provided care before the child was transported by road to hospital for further treatment.
