A Minns Labor Government will deliver device charging stations across Sydney’s train network, so that commuters and tourists can keep their devices charged on the go.
These charging stations will be placed at high traffic stations with a wide geographic spread across the network, so that no matter where you are on the network, you’re never far from a charging point.
Stations will be made available in non-ticketed areas so they are accessible to everyone in the community, including those sleeping rough.
Devices have become critical to our daily lives – but there is nothing worse than running out of battery.
Sydney is a global city and we should have the facilities to match.

NSW Labor Leader Chris Minns said: “We rely more and more on our phones and our devices for everything from paying for a morning coffee to getting around our city. This means that people be able to charge their devices while waiting for a train so the technology they rely on doesn’t drop out.
“This is a common sense proposal which is value for money and that’ll make life easier for people travelling on our train network.
“We want to encourage people onto public transport, so our stations need to have those small but important conveniences that make people’s day easier.”
“These new charging stations will mean tourists moving around the city have a place to recharge and kids who are enjoying the city never have an excuse not to call mum or dad.”
Shadow Minister for Transport Jo Haylen said: “We need to make our train stations into places that support passengers long into the future. They are more than just places where you can get on or off a train.
“Our stations should also be places where you can charge your devices, pick up an electric bike or scooter, and get up to date, accurate information about our whole transport network. We want to get more people off our roads and onto the public transport network and making our stations better places is one of the things we can do to make that happen”
