The leafy suburbs of Sydney feel a world apart from the bustling streets of West London, where Joseph Tawadros now calls home.
Born in Egypt and raised in Sydney, Joseph Tawadros’ gift for music has taken him beyond Australia. His niche: blending Egyptian and Arabic music with jazz and pop, taking these genres to new industries and countries like never before.
“Music gives people a voice. I enjoy taking my music, especially my love for the oud, to new places giving people a voice, much like an ambassador…,” Joseph said.

Joseph Tawadros’ style has been described as ‘adventurous,’ ‘eclectic,’ and ‘industrious’. He is unapologetic about the role of music in bringing people together and giving them a voice. His knack for connecting with people and his love for different cultures inspire his music and fuel his creativity.
Joseph and his brother James will perform at Sydney Symphony Under the Stars, in collaboration with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

“I love being able to bring the grace and edge of my classical music to Sydney,” Joseph said.
The Egyptian oud is known as the most romantic, making it a favourite among those coming to see his collaboration with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as part of the 2025 Sydney Festival. The concert is a free event for Sydneysiders who are looking to experience music and community.

Those wanting to see Joseph at a more private event can attend The Camelot Lounge in Marrickville on January 23 to connect with him and share their love for music.
Joseph understands how important it is for Arab communities to come together through music, especially after everything that 2024 brought.

“It’s important for our communities to come together and celebrate the hope that our cultures are known for”, Joseph shared.
The Sydney Symphony Under the Stars will take place at The Crescent in Parramatta Park on January 18.
