Arabic version: تحقيق الشرطة مع ثلاث نساء في قضية الاتجار بالجنس المتعلقة بمحمد الفايد

Three women have been interviewed under caution in an ongoing investigation related to allegations of human trafficking and sexual offences involving the late Harrods owner Mohamed Al Fayed, according to BBC News. The interviews took place between 25 February and 5 March, with the women aged in their 40s, 50s, and 60s.

The Metropolitan Police stated that the women are suspected of aiding and abetting rape and sexual assault, as well as facilitating human trafficking for sexual exploitation. Leigh Day, a law firm representing several survivors, expressed hope that this development indicates a broader investigation into additional suspects.

Emma Jones, a partner at Leigh Day, noted her concern regarding the limited number of suspects interviewed, highlighting the surprising fact that all those questioned were female. The police have reported that 154 victims have come forward with allegations of sexual assault, rape, and human trafficking, prompting a widening of the inquiry.

Met Police Commander Angela Craggs described the investigation as complex and emphasized the focus on bringing justice to victims. Although Al Fayed passed away in 2023, the police remain committed to investigating those who may have enabled his alleged offences. The investigation is part of Operation Cornpoppy, which is examining the role of individuals involved in facilitating Al Fayed’s alleged misconduct.
