Ticketholders for The Drop music festival are still waiting for refunds six years after the shows were cancelled. According to ABC News, the festival’s organizers had promised to issue refunds by the end of 2024, but many attendees remain in the dark about their money.
The festival, which had events planned in locations such as Manly, Coolangatta, Torquay, and Busselton, cancelled its 2020 shows, leaving many fans frustrated. Eloise Rawson, who purchased a ticket at the age of 19, expressed her disappointment, stating that she feels the situation highlights a lack of accountability from the organizers. She is still owed $115.80 for her ticket and has “completely lost hope” of receiving it back.
The Drop’s managing director, Ken O’Brien, has made several promises to refund customers and reschedule events, yet no shows have taken place. The festival’s Australian Business Number has been inactive since January 2025, complicating the situation further. Participants in a Facebook group dedicated to the festival’s refunds report ongoing frustrations and unanswered queries.
Consumer advocates suggest that the only way for ticketholders to secure their refunds is to maintain pressure on the festival organizers. Adam Glezer, a consumer rights advocate, emphasized the need for attendees to persist in their requests, as many may feel the organizers are counting on them to give up. With the window for disputing charges likely closed for many, the situation remains dire for those still waiting for their money.
