Robert Carradine, known for his roles in “Revenge of the Nerds” and “Lizzie McGuire,” has died at the age of 71. According to ABC News, Carradine was the youngest member of the prolific Carradine acting family and lived with bipolar disorder.

His brother, Keith Carradine, confirmed to Deadline that Robert took his own life, urging others to understand that mental illness is not shameful. Keith described Robert as profoundly gifted and expressed the family’s deep sense of loss.

Carradine’s acting career spanned over 40 years, beginning with his first television appearance on “Bonanza” in 1971 and his film debut in the 1972 John Wayne Western, “The Cowboys.” He gained widespread recognition for his role as Lewis Skolnick in the risqué comedy “Revenge of the Nerds” in 1984.

In addition to his film work, Carradine pursued a passion for professional racing in the late 1980s and 1990s, driving for Lotus. He later returned to television, earning acclaim for his role as Lizzie’s father on the Disney Channel series.

Hilary Duff, who starred alongside Carradine, shared her sorrow on Instagram, recalling the warmth of their on-screen family. Carradine is survived by his three children, who have expressed their love and admiration for him through heartfelt messages on social media.
